Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular protooncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of multiple genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
c-Fos is phosphorylated by various stimuli such as growth factors and insulin at several sites. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates Threonine 232, regulating nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of c-Fos.
