Product Specific Information

In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Integrin alpha 2, alpha 3, alpha 4, recombinant human Integrin alpha M, and alpha V is observed.

Target Information

CD103 (ITGAE, Integrin alpha E) is expressed on mucosa-associated T lymphocytes and activated cells, particularly on a subset of TGF-β1 cells.
It consists of a 150 kDa alpha chain and a 120 kDa beta chain. CD103 is found in 0.5–2% of resting lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphoid organs, staining a few bone marrow cells and rarely peripheral blood lymphocytes.
CD103 belongs to the integrin family, composed of heterodimeric integral membrane proteins with alpha and beta chains. ITGAE encodes an I-domain-containing alpha integrin undergoing post-translational cleavage into disulfide-linked heavy and light chains.
Together with beta 7 integrin, CD103 forms the E-cadherin-binding integrin known as the human mucosal lymphocyte-1 antigen. It is preferentially expressed in human intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) and may serve as an accessory molecule for IEL activation.
Diseases associated with CD103 dysfunction include hairy cell leukemia and splenic marginal zone lymphoma.
