G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), also known as seven transmembrane (7TM) or heptahelical receptors, are a family of proteins that interact with G proteins (heterotrimeric GTPases) to synthesize intracellular second messengers such as diacylglycerol, cyclic AMP, inositol phosphates, and calcium ions.
These receptors are involved in diverse biological functions including vision, olfaction, neuronal and endocrine signaling, and play roles in various pathological conditions.
G protein receptor 150 (GPR150), also designated PGR11 or seven transmembrane helix receptor, belongs to the rhodopsin family of GPCRs and is involved in signal transduction.
GPR150 is expressed in human tissues such as small intestine, skeletal muscle, kidney, and tonsil, as well as in cancerous tissues of blood, bladder, placenta, and parathyroid.
