G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), also known as seven transmembrane (7TM) or heptahelical receptors, are a large protein family that interact with G proteins (heterotrimeric GTPases) to generate intracellular second messengers such as diacylglycerol, cyclic AMP, inositol phosphates, and calcium ions.
These receptors play diverse biological roles in vision, olfaction, neuronal, and endocrine signaling, and are implicated in various pathological conditions.
G protein receptor 150 (GPR150), also known as PGR11, is a member of the rhodopsin family of GPCRs and participates in signal transduction. GPR150 is expressed in multiple human tissues including small intestine, skeletal muscle, kidney, and tonsil, as well as in certain cancerous tissues such as blood, bladder, placenta, and parathyroid.
