Target Information
PDCD2 is an essential component of an SCF-type E3 ligase complex, SCF(NIPA), which controls mitotic entry by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of cyclin B1 (CCNB1). Its cell-cycle-dependent phosphorylation regulates SCF(NIPA) assembly, restricting CCNB1 ubiquitination to interphase. Inactivation leads to nuclear accumulation of CCNB1 and premature mitotic entry. It may also play an antiapoptotic role in NPM-ALK-mediated signaling.
