Target Information
GADD153 (also known as DDIT3 or CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that can dimerize with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. This dimerization inhibits the normal binding and function of C/EBP to classical binding sites, while enabling binding to non-classical C/EBP stress-related targets. Under normal cellular conditions, GADD153 expression is low, but it is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents that affect ER calcium flux.
