Target Information
ITGA3 (Integrin alpha 3), also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, is encoded by the ITGA3 gene on chromosome 17q21.33. It is an integrin alpha subunit and a member of the cell surface adhesion molecule family. ITGA3 forms the α3β1 integrin complex, which plays a key role in neural migration and corticogenesis in conjunction with the β1 subunit.
Phosphorylation of DAB1 and ITGA3 signaling regulate neuronal detachment from radial glial fibers. Expression of human ITGA3 enhances viral infectivity in Chinese hamster ovary cells. ITGA3 possesses 13 potential N-glycosylation sites, 2 cleavage sites, and 7 N-terminal repeating units typical of integrins. Recombinant ITGA3 appears as a 150-kD protein, identical in size to the native form by western blot analysis.
