TCP-1 theta는 CCT (chaperonin containing TCP1 complex)의 세타 소단위로, 진핵세포질 내에서 풍부하게 존재하는 샤페로닌 복합체의 구성 요소입니다.
이 단백질은 ATP 가수분해에 의한 단백질 접힘을 보조하며, BBsome 복합체의 조립에 관여하여 섬모 형성과 수송 소포 조절에 역할을 합니다.
또한 actin과 tubulin의 접힘에 관여하며, CCT 복합체는 이중 고리 구조의 8개 폴리펩타이드로 구성되어 있습니다.
CCT는 세포 내에서 VHL 종양 억제 단백질의 접힘에도 중요한 역할을 합니다.
