Description:
The eB-h209 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD209 (DC-SIGN), a 44 kDa type II transmembrane protein containing a C-type lectin binding domain. It binds ICAM-3, ICAM-2, and HIV virus, and is preferentially expressed on human dendritic cells. DC-SIGN functions as a receptor for HIV capture and transmission to T cells, supporting primary immune responses. The eB-h209 clone was developed against a C-terminal peptide of human DC-SIGN.
Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry of human dendritic cell cultures. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Light Sensitivity:
This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect from light.

Target Information
The CD209 gene encodes a transmembrane receptor known as DC-SIGN, expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. It plays a key role in innate immunity by recognizing diverse pathogens such as viruses and parasites. The protein includes three domains: an N-terminal transmembrane domain, a tandem-repeat neck domain, and a C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain. The extracellular region mediates both pathogen recognition and cell adhesion through carbohydrate ligand binding. The neck region supports homo-oligomerization, enhancing multivalent ligand binding. Variations in the neck domain can affect ligand affinity. CD209 is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand-binding specificity and tissue distribution. Multiple splice variants exist.
