Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a large protein family carrying the LIM domain, a unique cysteine-rich zinc-binding domain. The encoded protein functions as a transcription factor required for pituitary development and motor neuron specification. Mutations in this gene are associated with combined pituitary hormone deficiency and rigid cervical spine syndrome. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
