Target Information
The MAK10 gene encodes a 733-amino acid protein with similarity to T cell receptor alpha-subunit V regions in yeast. The mammalian homologue, also known as EGAP, is a subunit of a conserved N-terminal acetyltransferase (NAT) complex among vertebrates.
It is expressed in various tissues during rat embryonic development but becomes restricted in adults, remaining detectable in tissues undergoing continual renewal or pathological injury.
The MAK10-NAT complex regulates proteins involved in embryonic growth control and vessel development and co-assembles to regulate cell proliferation, partly through TOR signaling.
At least two isoforms of MAK10 are known to exist.
