Target Information
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to specific cellular locations. The AKAP11 gene encodes a member of this family, expressed highly during spermatogenesis and in mature sperm. It binds RI and RII subunits of PKA in testis and may play a role in cell cycle control of both somatic and germ cells, as well as in spermatogenesis and sperm function.
