CDH9 (cadherin-9)은 cadherin superfamily에 속하는 type II classical cadherin으로, 칼슘 의존적 세포-세포 접착에 관여하는 막관통 단백질입니다. 성숙한 cadherin 단백질은 큰 N-말단 세포외 도메인, 단일 막관통 도메인, 보존된 C-말단 세포질 도메인으로 구성됩니다. 세포외 도메인은 5개의 subdomain으로 이루어져 있으며, 각 subdomain은 cadherin motif를 포함하고 있어 단백질의 동종접착 특이성을 결정합니다. Type II cadherin은 Type I cadherin에 존재하는 HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence가 결여되어 있는 것이 특징입니다.
