Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic stability. Defects in this pathway can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI), which is associated with carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPC). MLH1 forms a heterodimer with PMSH after MSH2 binds to mismatched DNA, facilitating subsequent repair steps.
