Target Information
This gene belongs to the neurotrophin family, which regulates the survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons. Its expression is ubiquitous and less influenced by environmental signals. Knockouts of other neurotrophins (NGF, BDNF, NT-3) are lethal during early postnatal development, while NTF5-deficient mice show minor cellular deficits and develop normally to adulthood.
