Albumin은 혈청 단백질의 약 절반을 차지하는 단량체성 수용성 단백질로, 스테로이드, 지방산, 갑상선 호르몬의 운반체 역할을 하며 세포외액의 삼투압 유지에 기여합니다.
Albumin은 간에서 preproalbumin 형태로 합성되어 N-말단 펩타이드 절단 후 proalbumin이 생성되며, 이후 골지체 내에서 절단되어 최종적으로 분비됩니다.
분자량은 약 65,000이며, 비당화 단백질입니다.
