VPS51은 GARP 복합체의 구성 요소로, 초기 및 후기 엔도솜에서 trans-Golgi network(TGN)로의 역수송에 관여합니다. 이 복합체는 단백질의 TGN 회수, 산성 가수분해효소의 분류, 리소좀 기능, 엔도솜 콜레스테롤 이동 및 자가포식 유지에 필수적입니다. 또한 VPS51은 EARP 복합체의 구성 요소로서, Rab4-양성 엔도솜과 결합하여 내재화된 트랜스페린 수용체(TFRC)의 세포막 재활용을 촉진합니다.
