Target Information
Caspase 14는 세포자멸사(apoptosis)의 실행 단계에서 중심적인 역할을 하는 cysteine-aspartic acid protease(caspase) 계열 단백질 중 하나를 암호화합니다. Caspases는 비활성 전구효소 형태로 존재하며, 보존된 aspartic 잔기에서 절단되어 활성 효소를 형성합니다.
이 단백질은 in vitro에서 caspase 8 및 caspase 10에 의해, in vivo에서는 anti-Fas 항체 또는 TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand에 의해 활성화됩니다. Caspase 14의 발현 및 처리 과정은 각질형성세포의 최종 분화와 관련되어 있으며, 피부 장벽 형성에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
CASP14 관련 질환으로는 Ichthyosis, Congenital, Autosomal Recessive 12 및 Autosomal Recessive Congenital Ichthyosis가 보고되어 있습니다.
