This antibody detects endogenous levels of CFTR only when phosphorylated at Ser737.
Target Information
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a common lethal genetic disease caused by mutations in the gene coding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a cAMP-regulated chloride channel. Approximately 70% of CF cases involve deletion of phenylalanine at position 508 (ΔF508), leading to abnormal chloride transport. Despite its lethality, the CF mutation remains prevalent, possibly because Salmonella typhi uses CFTR to enter intestinal epithelial cells, and ΔF508 heterozygote and homozygote mice show 86% and 100% reductions in S. typhi intestinal submucosal uptake, respectively.
