Product Specific Information

The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as CD8αβ heterodimers or CD8αα homodimers.

• CD8αβ: Expressed on thymocytes and mature αβ TCR T cells
• CD8αα: Found on γδ TCR T cells, intestinal IELs, and dendritic cells

CD8 binds MHC class I and associates with tyrosine kinase p56lck, playing a role in T cell development and activation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Mouse splenocytes (≤0.25 µg/test, 100 µL volume). Cell count should be optimized (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Fluorochrome: eFluor® 506 (Excitation: 405 nm, Emission: 506 nm, Violet laser). Recommended filter: 510/20 band pass.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD8 (Cluster of Differentiation 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein in the immunoglobulin receptor family.

• Acts as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC class I molecules
• Expressed mainly on T cells as CD8αβ heterodimers or CD8αα homodimers
• Also found on NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells
• Mediates signal transduction, lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation
• CTL differentiation enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1
