Target Information
NF-κB is a nuclear transcription factor activated by various stimuli such as cytokines, UV radiation, stress, injury, and microbial products. It regulates cellular processes including growth, differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammation.
NFKB1 (p50), a 50 kDa subunit of NF-κB, belongs to the Rel protein family. Synthesized as a p105 precursor, it contains an N-terminal RHD region with nuclear localization, DNA-binding, and dimerization domains.
NFKB1 (p50) forms homodimers or heterodimers with p65, creating the functional NF-κB complex that translocates to the nucleus and binds DNA. NF-κB has been implicated in AIDS, hematogenic cancer metastasis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
