Target Information
JAB-1 (CSN5) is a 38 kDa protein originally described as a coactivator for cJUN. It is part of the large protein complex known as the Signalosome, which plays a signaling role in mammalian cells and is analogous to the COP9 complex in plants. This complex is important in light-mediated plant development. JAB-1 has been implicated in targeting proteins for degradation by the proteasome.
