Target Information
The Golgi apparatus structure and function are regulated by multi-protein complexes involved in glycosylation and vesicular transport. The conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex includes three subcomplexes—LDLC, SEC34, and GTT—each containing essential proteins for Golgi operation.
COG2 (conserved oligomeric Golgi complex subunit 2), also known as LDLC, is a 730 amino acid component of the COG complex. It localizes to the cytoplasmic side of the Golgi apparatus and is required for proper Golgi morphology and function, particularly in Golgi ribbon formation and vesicular transport.
Abnormal COG2 function may lead to cell death, indicating its importance for cell viability.
