Target Information

The ADAMTS8 gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family.
Members share several distinct protein modules, including:

• Propeptide region
• Metalloproteinase domain
• Disintegrin-like domain
• Thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif

This enzyme contains two C-terminal TS motifs and disrupts angiogenesis in vivo.
Several disorders, including lung neoplasms, have been mapped near this gene.
