GSDMD (gasdermin-D)는 미생물 감염 및 위험 신호에 대한 반응으로 pyroptosis를 유도합니다. 염증성 caspase인 CASP1 또는 CASP4에 의해 절단되어 활성화되며, 절단 후 세포막의 인지질(PI4P, PI(4,5)P₂, PI(3,4,5)P₃, PA, PS 등)에 결합하여 세포 용해를 유도합니다. 또한 세균 살해 활성을 나타냅니다.
