Target Information
The NBPF7 gene belongs to the neuroblastoma breakpoint family (NBPF), which includes numerous duplicated genes primarily located on human chromosome 1. Members of this family contain tandemly repeated DUF1220 protein domains. Variations in the 1q21.1 region, where DUF1220 domains are concentrated, are associated with developmental and neurogenetic disorders such as microcephaly, macrocephaly, autism, schizophrenia, mental retardation, congenital heart disease, neuroblastoma, and kidney or urinary tract anomalies. Altered expression of NBPF family members is linked to several cancers. This gene family also includes many pseudogenes.
