Target Information
Early endosomal antigen 1 (EEA1) is a 162 kDa membrane-bound protein specific to the early endosome and is essential for fusion between early endocytic vesicles.
Early endosomes fuse with endocytic vesicles for redistribution of extracellular compounds.
EEA1 contains zinc-finger-like domains in both amino and carboxyl-terminal regions, critical for intracellular localization.
Membrane association of EEA1 depends on phosphatidyl 3-kinase activity; inhibitors cause dissociation from early endosomes.
