Target Information

The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, mediating biosynthetic protein transport from the ER to the trans-Golgi network. It is essential for retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins, maintains Golgi structural integrity, and regulates LDL receptor processing and recycling.
Additionally, the coatomer complex limits lipid storage in lipid droplets and regulates lipid homeostasis by controlling the localization of PLIN2, PLIN3, and PNPLA2 at the lipid droplet surface.
