Target Information
The Urotensin-II receptor is highly expressed in the heart and pancreas, as well as in arteries and smooth muscle. Low transcript levels are found in the brain, particularly in the thalamus and superior occipital gyrus.
G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) form one of the largest families of signaling molecules, with over a thousand members predicted. These receptors share a structural motif of seven transmembrane helices and exist in active and inactive forms. Ligand binding induces conformational changes that trigger G-protein signaling and downstream effects.
