Target Information
HIPPI (IFT57) is required for the formation of cilia and plays an indirect role in sonic hedgehog signaling. It has a pro-apoptotic function via interaction with HIP1, recruiting caspase-8 (CASP8) to trigger apoptosis. HIPPI can bind the DNA sequence motif 5'-AAAGACATG-3' found in promoters of caspase genes (CASP1, CASP8, CASP10), suggesting a possible transcription regulatory role, though its relevance remains unclear.
