The antibody detects endogenous levels of total SPACA3 protein.
Target Information
SPACA3 (sperm acrosome associated 3), also known as sperm lysozyme-like protein 1, lysozyme-like protein 3, or cancer/testis antigen 54 (CT54), is a 215 amino acid protein involved in sperm-egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion during fertilization.
It is expressed in testis, placenta, and epididymis, and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms:
- Isoform 1: single-pass type II membrane protein of the sperm acrosome
- Isoform 2: secreted protein
SPACA3 is identified as a novel cancer/testis antigen in hematologic malignancies and may serve as a potential immunotherapy target. It could act as a receptor for the egg oligosaccharide residue N-acetylglucosamine. The processed form has no detectable bacteriolytic activity in vitro.
