• For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

MUC1 (Mucin 1, also known as Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, and EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic lineages. It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large extracellular domain heavily glycosylated with O-linked glycans. MUC1 is highly polymorphic, with alleles encoding variable repeat numbers (30–90), resulting in size heterogeneity. It is abundantly expressed in over 90% of breast carcinomas and metastases. Overexpression and altered glycosylation of MUC1 are associated with carcinomas. The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several alternatively spliced variants.
