Target Information
BRCA1 (breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)는 핵 내 인산화 단백질로서 유전체 안정성을 유지하고, 다른 종양 억제 단백질, DNA 손상 센서, 신호 전달 인자들과 함께 BASC(BRCA1 associated genome surveillance complex)를 형성하여 종양 억제 기능을 수행합니다.
BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase complex와 상호작용하며, 전사 조절, DNA 이중 가닥 절단 복구 및 재조합 과정에 관여합니다.
BRCA1 유전자의 변이는 유전성 유방암의 약 40%, 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 80% 이상을 유발합니다.
이 유전자는 다양한 alternative splicing 형태를 가지며, 일부는 질병 관련 변이로 보고되었습니다. 관련된 유사 유전자(pseudogene)는 염색체 17에 위치합니다.
