Target Information
Transcriptional coactivator for CREB1, activating transcription through both consensus and variant cAMP response element (CRE) sites. Functions as a coactivator in the SIK/TORC signaling pathway, active when dephosphorylated and independent of CREB1 Ser-133 phosphorylation. Enhances CREB1–TAF4 interaction and regulates CREB-activated genes such as StAR. Acts as a potent coactivator of PGC1α, inducing mitochondrial biogenesis in muscle cells. In the hippocampus, participates in late-phase long-term potentiation (L-LTP) maintenance and may be required for dendritic growth of developing cortical neurons. Together with SIK1, regulates light-induced circadian clock entrainment by coactivating CREB-mediated transcription of PER1.
