Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) are families of serine/threonine protein kinases present in all eukaryotes. CKI family members (α, γ, ε, δ) regulate cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair.
CKII functions as a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα'β2) where the α subunit is catalytically active and stimulated by the β regulatory subunit. CKII is abundant in proliferating and differentiating cells, phosphorylating over 100 substrates including oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
