Nucleus, cytoplasm, and mitochondrion.
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center, centrosome, and spindle.
Cytoplasmic during interphase; colocalizes with SIRT2 on centrosome during prophase and on spindle fibers during metaphase of mitotic cycle.
Reversibly translocated from cytoplasm to nucleus when phosphorylated before G2-M transition when associated with cyclin-B1.
Accumulates in mitochondria in G2-arrested cells upon DNA damage.

단백질 배경 (Background)

Cyclin dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and serves as the catalytic subunit of M-phase promoting factor (MPF), essential for G1/S and G2/M phase transitions in the eukaryotic cell cycle.
Mitotic cyclins associate with CDK1 as regulatory subunits, controlling kinase activity through cyclin accumulation and degradation.
Phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of CDK1 play critical roles in cell cycle regulation.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
