Background
This gene encodes a chemokine receptor-like protein predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein closely related to CCR1. Chemokines and their receptors mediate signal transduction crucial for recruiting effector immune cells to sites of inflammation. This gene is highly expressed in primary neutrophils and monocytes, upregulated upon neutrophil activation and during monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation. The exact function of this gene remains unknown. It is located within the chemokine receptor gene cluster region.
