배경 (Background)

This gene is an oncogene that encodes a member of the serine/threonine protein kinase family. The encoded protein localizes to the cytoplasm and can activate both the MAP kinase and JNK kinase pathways. It can also activate IκB kinases, inducing nuclear NF-κB production. Additionally, it promotes TNF-α and IL-2 production during T lymphocyte activation. This gene may utilize a downstream in-frame translation start codon to produce a shorter isoform with weaker transforming activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
