Target Information
Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with other core histones, it binds DNA to form the nucleosome structure. Histones play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. Post-translational modifications of histones, such as methylation or acetylation of lysine and arginine residues and phosphorylation of serine or threonine, influence chromatin structure and gene expression.
