This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Aquaporin 8 protein.
Target Information
Aquaporin-8 is a protein encoded by the AQP8 gene in humans. It functions as a water channel protein and belongs to the aquaporin family of small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0).
Aquaporin 8 mRNA is expressed in pancreas and colon, but not in other tissues. It forms a mercury-sensitive, water-specific channel that is not permeable to glycerol or urea. Expression is limited to pancreas and colon.
