이 단백질은 정자형성, 배아 착상, 신경망 형성 및 종양 진행 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요하며, 면역글로불린 초가족의 구성원입니다.
CD147는 대사활성이 높은 세포(림프모세포, 염증세포, 갈색지방세포, 악성종양세포 등)에 높은 수준으로 발현되며,
monocarboxylate transporter 단백질 및 extracellular matrix metalloproteinase의 세포 표면 발현을 촉진하고 integrin 기능 조절, 세포 발달 및 활성화, 태아 발달, 망막 기능에 관여합니다.
