Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif known as the F-box. F-box proteins are part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, which mediates phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. They are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The FBXO21 protein belongs to the Fbxs class. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants.
