Target Information
This gene belongs to the lipoma HMGIC fusion partner (LHFP) gene family, a subset of the tetraspan transmembrane protein-encoding superfamily. Mutations in this gene cause deafness in humans, and similar mutations in mice result in deafness and vestibular dysfunction with severe degeneration of the organ of Corti. It is proposed to function in hair bundle morphogenesis.
