This antibody is predicted to react with bovine and rat based on sequence homology.
Target Information
Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments present in epithelial cells, both keratinizing (e.g., skin) and non-keratinizing (e.g., mesothelial cells). At least 20 different CKs can be identified, classified into two main types:
- Type I (acidic polypeptides)
- Type II (basic polypeptides)
Keratin 14 (KRT14) belongs to the type I low molecular weight keratins and typically pairs with keratin 5. It is a marker distinguishing stratified epithelial cells from simple epithelial cells and is useful in identifying squamous cell carcinomas. KRT14 is also considered a prognostic marker in breast carcinomas. Both acidic and basic keratin family members are expressed in all epithelial cells.
