Target Information
Heme oxygenase는 heme 분해 과정의 필수 효소로, heme을 biliverdin으로 절단하며 biliverdin은 biliverdin reductase에 의해 bilirubin으로 전환됩니다. 또한 carbon monoxide를 생성하여 신경전달물질로 작용할 수 있습니다.
이 효소는 기질 heme 및 다양한 비-heme 물질에 의해 유도됩니다. Heme oxygenase는 두 가지 isozyme 형태로 존재하며, 유도성 heme oxygenase-1(HMOX1)과 항상성 heme oxygenase-2(HMOX2)가 있습니다. 여러 alternative splicing 변이체가 보고되어 있으며, 세 가지 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화합니다.
