DEAD box 단백질은 보존된 Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) 모티프를 특징으로 하는 RNA helicase 계열 단백질입니다. 이들은 RNA 2차 구조 변화와 관련된 다양한 세포 과정(번역 개시, 핵 및 미토콘드리아 스플라이싱, 리보솜 및 스플라이소좀 조립 등)에 관여합니다. 일부 DEAD box 단백질은 발생, 정자형성, 세포 성장 및 분열에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
DHX30은 이 단백질 계열의 구성원으로, 마우스 HELG 단백질과 97%의 서열 동일성을 가지며, 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 3개의 전사 변이를 생성합니다.
