Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent.
Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

The protein encoded by the classic MBP gene is a major constituent of the myelin sheath of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells in the nervous system.
MBP-related transcripts are also present in the bone marrow and immune system, arising from the long MBP gene (Golli-MBP) that includes 3 additional upstream exons.
Alternative splicing from Golli and MBP transcription start sites produces 2 sets of MBP-related transcripts and gene products.
Golli mRNAs encode hybrid proteins combining N-terminal Golli sequences with MBP sequences, while MBP-only transcripts produce the well-characterized myelin basic proteins.
This complex gene structure is conserved among species, suggesting functional and regulatory importance.
