Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that dimerizes with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. This dimer inhibits normal C/EBP binding to classical sites and gains activity on non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, expression is low but strongly induced during cellular or ER stress, such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
