Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the protocadherin family and cadherin superfamily, which are transmembrane proteins containing cadherin domains. These proteins mediate calcium-dependent cell adhesion in neural tissues and may be involved in signaling at neuronal synaptic junctions.
The gene features a large exon encoding multiple cadherin domains and a transmembrane region. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
