FBXW5 유전자는 약 40개의 아미노산으로 구성된 F-box 모티프를 특징으로 하는 F-box 단백질 패밀리 구성원을 암호화합니다.
이 단백질들은 SKP1-cullin-F-box(SCF) 복합체의 구성 요소로, 인산화 의존적 유비퀴틴화에 관여합니다.
F-box 단백질은 구조적 특징에 따라 다음 세 가지로 분류됩니다:
- Fbws: WD-40 도메인 포함
- Fbls: 류신 반복 서열 포함
- Fbxs: 다양한 단백질-단백질 상호작용 모듈 또는 명확한 모티프 없음
FBXW5 단백질은 F-box 모티프와 WD-40 도메인을 모두 포함하므로 Fbw 클래스에 속합니다.
